PRODUCT: Usborne - Wipe-Clean Starting Times Tables (www.usborne.com)Usborne Wipe Clean Times Tables

DESCRIPTION: A 24-page illustrated wipe-clean book with a monster theme, which is designed to assist young children in learning their two and ten times tables. Ink pen included. Written by Jessica Greenwell and illustrated by Kimberley Scott. Suitable for children aged 4 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: This is one in a lovely series of wipe-clean books from Usborne Books which is designed to engage your child in learning their times tables in an uncomplicated and interactive way.

The pages of the book are made from thick glossy card which is easy for little hands to turn, and are packed full of wonderfully cute, colourful and appealing illustrations of funny monsters as well as familiar animals and objects that children will love studying.

The book focuses solely on introducing young children to the two and ten times tables (as these are usually the first tables they learn at school), and encourages them to learn about simple number sequencing by using simple fun exercises with a monster theme that will appeal to all, including 'Monster homes', 'Slurpy's flowers' and 'Goggle's cakes'!

Each page/double page focuses on a different exercise, with the first half of the book concentrating on the two times table, and the second half looking at the ten times table. For beginners there are plenty of dotted outlines to encourage your child to use the accompanying special pen to practise tracing numbers, as well as free boxes for them to try working out and writing the answers themselves.

Helpfully, each page contains a number line at the bottom to aid them in their counting. In addition, the illustrations are useful in reinforcing learning, as there are several fun scenes for your child to add to with their own drawings.

The great feature of the book is that once your child has finished using the pen, the pages of the book can simply be wiped clean, ready for writing on again.

In our opinion, this is a brilliantly designed and very educational book for school children, which encourages them to practise writing basic number sequencing in a fun and gentle way.

BAD POINTS: Ink from the pen may not be washable if it gets on your child's clothes.
