DESCRIPTION: A magic set for young children, containing a collection of props to perform a large number of tricks, plus an illustrated instruction book. Contains magic card sleeve, magic dropper, time travelling chewing gum, floating credit cards, karate coin, money goblets, mind reading envelope, mysterious folding note, Svengali card deck, double sided cards, self-opening match boxes, magic sweet box, magic card case, and instructions. Suitable for children aged 8 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: Stephen Mulhern's Magic Set is an impressive set of card, coin and other tricks for young aspiring magicians to wow their friends and family.

The set contains a wonderful array of props to perform a decent number of magic tricks (well over twenty), as presented by television presenter Stephen Mulhern. As well as some old favourites, there are also several original tricks which your child will have great fun practising and performing to you!

The props are well designed and of a good quality, with lots of attention to detail. Among others they include a magic card sleeve which makes cards appear and vanish, magic match boxes which open and close by themselves, a closed sweet box with a magically appearing coin, a mysterious 'bank note' which folds itself up, a mind reading envelope which predicts the audience's answers, time travelling chewing gum which turns chewed-up gum into an unchewed (and unwrapped) stick, and a karate coin which you can slam your finger through. In addition, the set includes magical goblets which make coins jump from cup to cup, credit cards which float, a magic dropper which makes items disappear, and a number of trick cards to enable your child to perform a host of card tricks.

Not surprisingly, the set is aimed at older children due to the required comprehension and complexity of some of the magic tricks. The accompanying instructions are well pitched for the recommended age group, and are nicely presented and very detailed, guiding your child through the required props, preparation, and execution (including any variations) of each trick in an easy-to-understand format with lots of helpful illustrations.

In our opinion this is a fun and original set of magic that will inspire and enthuse children to practise, master and experiment with some neat little tricks. Added to this, the set is a great way of building confidence through performing to an 'audience', as well as promoting plenty of logical thinking, social interaction and communication skills.

BAD POINTS: Once your child has run out of a willing audience, the set might have limited use.
