PRODUCT: John Adams Science Is Magic (www.johnadams.co.uk)John Adams Science Is Magic

DESCRIPTION: A box of science magic tricks containing over 40 experiments for children to try, including weird physics, silly science and optical illusions among others. The set consists of 25 cards, 3D warthog model, flying phoenix, spinning discs, kaleidoscope, spinning broomstick, 3D glasses, balloon, project accessories and instructions booklet. Suitable for children aged 7 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: This is a great little scientific starter kit for engaging young children in learning about basic scientific concepts through a variety of simple and fun experimental activities.

The box contains almost all the equipment and accessories that your child will need (give or take a few household items) to conduct a huge array of hands-on science-based experiments that will teach them about water, air, temperature, light and colour, static electricity, mirrors, optical illusions and more. What's more, the subjects covered follow the National Curriculum, so the set is great for supporting your child's school-based learning.

The set comes with a wonderfully detailed full-colour instructions manual, complete with easy-to-follow step-by-step commands and diagrams to guide your child through each activity. In addition, the booklet explains the expected outcome for each activity, and more importantly why it happens, which is important for stimulating enquiring young minds!

In our opinion, this is a stimulating and educational set for introducing budding young scientists and (magicians) to some important scientific principles, offering a huge range of safe and simple practicals, not to mention lots of fun!

BAD POINTS: A lot of the activities in the book do not use any of the equipment included in the box. Also, some of the contents may have limited use once they have been completed.
