PRODUCT: John Adams Wallace & Gromit Liquid Clock 7000 ( Adams Wallace & Gromit Liquid Clock

DESCRIPTION: An experimental construction set from the Wallace & Gromit range, containing components to build and decorate an alarm clock powered by liquid. Includes Liquid Clock 7000 machine parts, safety goggles, card scenery, decorative stickers and blueprint instructions. Can also be operated using 2 x AA batteries (not included). Suitable for children aged 10 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: The Wallace & Gromit Liquid Clock 7000 is indeed a 'cracking' creation, and a great way of getting kids interested in science and engineering.

It is a type of construction project which involves your child creating a scientific experiment (under adult supervision) to make their own battery-powered alarm clock. The kit includes a number of pieces to build the machine, including a base board which all the components slot into, and chemicals/metal strips for your child to make their own basic liquid battery (liquid not included) to power the digital clock screen.

A pair of safety goggles are provided with the set to protect your child's eyes from contact with the chemicals used, and a set of detailed instructions guide you and your child safely through construction. If the homemade battery runs out, the components can be reused to refresh the battery. The clock can alternatively be powered using two AA batteries (not included) which need to be placed in the battery pack provided.

The kit also contains some 'pop-out' card scenery that can be positioned around the 'contraption' during assembly, along with a number of decorative stickers to add some additional fun detailing. Once up and running, the clock has two control buttons to enable your child to set the correct month, date, hour and minute, as well as modes to alternate the screen display between date and/or time.

In our opinion, this is a fantastically fun and educational activity to keep enquiring young minds fully occupied, and is valuable in teaching children the basics about electricity, circuits and batteries...perfect for the big kids out there too!

BAD POINTS: The cardboard scenery is quite flimsy, but is not integral to the working of the clock itself.

PRICE: Approx. £12.99
