StoryToys releases a free “try-before-you-buy” edition of the Chuggington 3D storybook app, Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue

October 17th, 2013 - StoryToys, a leading publisher of interactive books and games for children, today announced the release of a free “try-before-you-buy” edition of Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue. Chug Patrol is a 3D storybook app for children, developed by StoryToys and produced in collaboration with Ludorum, creators of the hugely popular television show, Chuggington.

The freemium edition gives readers the opportunity to sample the app before deciding whether to purchase. The first few chapters and 3D interactive pop-up scenes, are completely free to read and play. One simple payment will unlock the rest of the book which includes many more exciting scenes with challenges to complete. The option to purchase the full book is carefully locked behind Parent Center, which only adults can access. Parent Center is a function in all StoryToys apps which gives parents full control over the app and ensures that nothing can be purchased without their permission.

Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue is based on the current series of Chuggington and features the adventures of the young trainees Wilson, Brewster and Koko as they take on new challenges.

Designed by Anne-Sophie Cochevelou, a student at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, the fabulous coral red fabric is adorned with around 5000 LEGO Bricks, injecting lots of fun and vibrant colour to a design that wouldn’t look out of place on the catwalk.

 

Naturally, no dress is complete without accessories and Anne Sophie has completed the LEGO look from top to toe with customised shoes with LEGO Bricks and a LEGO fascinator that is most definitely a head turner!

 

Anne-Sophie comments:  “I began experimenting with LEGO bricks to make accessories such as sunglasses and jewellery and then customising t-shirts with LEGO bricks.  I then had this idea for a dress in my head and I am absolutely thrilled with the reality of my vision.”

Treasure Trails are available online at www.treasuretrails.co.uk. There are over 1,000 different Treasure Trials available, covering towns, cities and rural areas across the UK. All Trails are listed on the website so you should easily find somewhere you’d like to explore.

You can choose between three themes; a Treasure Hunt, a Spy Mission or a Murder Mystery. At the outset of each Trail the ‘mission’ is given – to find the treasure, crack the spy code or discover the murderer. You then follow an easy route and answer a series of clues involving some interesting, scenic and historical sights along the way to find the answers.

Treasure Trails are neat A5 booklets that are light and easy to carry. They vary in length, but most average two miles and take a couple of hours to complete. Clear symbols on the front of each Trail will tell you at a glance the length of the Trail, how long it should take you and whether it is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. There are also some longer driving and cycling Trails.

Each Treasure Trail also has a ‘Trail Trouble Textline’ that offers instant help with the clues in case you get stuck – so no Trail should remain unsolved.

When you have completed the Trail you can submit your answer online for the chance to win up to £1000.

Treasure Trails are a great way to encourage children to get out in the fresh air, explore a new area and most importantly…have great fun doing so.

How Sassy Bloom came about

In April 2012, at 29 weeks pregnant, Hollie was admitted into hospital after passing out several times during her pregnancy and suffering from extensive breathlessness which left her almost bed ridden. After passing out several times over one weekend, she was referred to a cardiologist. During examination she lay there thinking she would be told everything was fine and not to worry. What she was told was quite different “You are in a critical condition, and need to be admitted into hospital right away. Your baby may have to be delivered tonight”.

After being admitted into Watford General Hospital and then transferred into the Critical Care unit at Hammersmith Hospital, Hollie was diagnosed with a rare, incurable and potentially fatal heart condition, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, a condition which leads to extremely high blood pressure in the artery between the heart and lungs. It is especially dangerous during pregnancy and patients are told never to attempt to have children due to the high risks to both mother and baby.

She was told by doctors that she had a 50/50 chance of survival.

The mother of one added: “I was terrified. How do you get your head around being told to get your life in order and tell your friends and family?”

“Luckily the baby was already at a stage where she would be viable - but all I could think was that I was going to be leaving my husband behind alone with our new baby.”

After being in hospital for 4 weeks and on continuous drugs to try and decrease the size of Hollies heart, via a large tube in her neck which lead straight to the heart, Hollies daughter Gabriella was born via Caesarian Section.

Hollie then spent the next 10 days in Intensive Care whilst Gabriella was taken to Queen Charlotte Hospital Special Care unit. They only saw each other for about an hour each day.

Whilst in Intensive Care Hollie received a box from friends, containing a selection of presents for herself and for Gabriella when she was home.
