Tomy Raa Raa's Interactive Playset

GOOD POINTS: This latest interactive Raa Raa the Noisy Lion playset will most definitely make a fantastic gift for any young fans of the popular CBeebies television series of the same name. It is a wonderfully innovative toy which forms part of Tomy's exciting 'Interactive Play System' of vehicles, play figures and playsets which all interact with each other, and enable young children to create a whole world of Raa Raa!

The jungle-themed playset is made from a durable plastic and is a substantial size for young children to enjoy. It comprises a pre-assembled stand-alone treehouse (a replica of Raa Raa's home as it appears in the programme), along with a Raa Raa play figure with beautifully detailed character features that make him instantly recognisable to young children, and also his favourite Cubby Buggy, with lovely attention to detail in the log effect design and the four stripy rolling wheels.

The treehouse is also wonderfully designed, and stands on a raised base with front steps leading down. The treehouse consists of a large brown trunk (complete with bark detailing) with opening front door and side window, and an oversized green 'leafage' effect upper floor with further front window.

From either side of the central truck stem two further branches, with a fun working swing hanging from one, and a large clump of palm leaves attached to the other via a cord which pulls down to create Raa Raa's 'garage'.

The back of the treehouse is open access which allows for maximum playability, and there are some fun accessories included for your child to decorate the upper floor of the treehouse, including Raa Raa's bed (pre-fixed), a set of Bongos, a secret chest (with opening lid), and a ladder.

Tomy Raa Raa's Interactive PlaysetThe great feature of the playset is that it contains Tomy's unique 'Smartspot' technology (or rather the Raa Raa figure does), which brings the playset to life when Raa Raa is pushed down onto the special 'Smartspots' outside his treehouse. For example, when Raa Raa is placed on the Smartspot outside his front door, your child will hear him repeat lots of cute sounds and phrases (using his actual voice as heard in the programme). When he is placed on the Smartspot by his jungle leaf 'garage', the palm leaves lift up and the Cubby Buggy makes fun revving sound effects. A raised peg on the swing as well as in the seat well of the Cubby Buggy also enables Raa Raa to be secured in place for lots of free swinging and push-along fun.

An additional great feature is that there are other Raa Raa character figures to collect who also have the Smartspot technology which will activate their own unique sounds and phrases when placed onto a Smartspot.

The playset is battery operated, and battery replacement is easy via the compartment on the underside of the treehouse base (a screwdriver will be required for this). There is also a useful on/off switch located on the back.

In our opinion, Raa Raa's Interactive Playset is a robust and beautifully designed playset for young children, with lovely attention to detail and some great interactive features to stimulate little imaginations.

BAD POINTS: The toy is quite pricey, and batteries are not included in the price. Only one play figure is included.
