Clementoni Archeofun T-RexPRODUCT: Clementoni Science & Play Archeofun T-Rex (http://www.clementoni.com/en/)

DESCRIPTION: A glow in the dark, fossilised T-rex kit complete with tools for excavation. Suitable for children aged 7 and upwards.

GOOD POINTS: T-riffic fun for boys or girls with an interest in archaeology and dinosaurs the Acheofun T-Rex kit is essentially a much larger version of the standard excavation kits that are available on the market.

The kit comes with a large brick of 'earth' and tools to allow children (and no doubt adults) to slowly chip away until the parts of the T-Rex model are found. Obviously it is essential that care is taken not to damage the bones, and each piece requires washing once exposed to clean them up.

Once all nine parts have been found and cleaned the model can be easily built following the included instructions which slot into a fossilised dinosaur footprint that acts as a stand for the model. Beyond the size of the model, the other aspect that really stands out about this excavated model is the fact that it also glows in the dark which in our opinion would keep children engaged over time.

It's worth noting that the manual also opens out to be a small poster after use with a timeline of the Mesozoic Era which covers the different time periods of the dinosaurs with examples of animals that would have lived during each.

If you have a budding dinosaur explorer in the family this kit is sure to keep them engaged and in contrast to the smaller kits of this type, the model is going to get pride of place on the windowsill to get the glow in the dark effect at bedtime.

BAD POINTS: Like most kits of this type, it is most likely that a mess will ensue during assembly and that some adult supervision will be required!
