PRODUCT: LEGO Ninjago Spinjitzu Spinners 2012 ( Ninjago Kendo Zane

DESCRIPTION: A series of new battle spinners from the LEGO Ninjago range, for hosting tournaments between the Spinjitzu Masters and the evil snake tribe armies. The new spinners include Kendo Zane, Samurai X, Snappa and Lasha, as well as a Starter Set featuring Cole ZX and Rattla. A single set includes 1 x minifigure, 1 x spinner, 1 x crown, 1 x golden weapon, 2 x regular weapons, 1 x character card, 4 x battle cards and lego bricks. Suitable for children aged 6 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: Following on from the huge success of the Ninjago Spinjitzu Spinners in 2011, LEGO have introduced a new series of Ninjago battle spinners for kids to get their hands on.

The Ninjago Spinners range consists of a series of characters split into 'goodies' and 'baddies'...but this time the noble ninja warriers are not fighting the Spinjitzu skeletons! The new spinners include two Spinjitzu Masters 'Kendo Zane' and 'Samurai X', who are ready to train and battle against the newest threat to the Ninjago World, Lloyd Garmadon and the snake clans, featuring two new evil characters 'Snappa' (from the Fangpyre snake tribe) and 'Lasha' (from the Venomari snake tribe). In addition, there is a doubles starter set available which contains two character spinners, Cole ZX (ninja) and Rattla (Hy nobrai snake tribe).

LEGO Ninjago Kendo Zane2Each LEGO Ninjago minifigure character has wonderful attention to detail, and comes in several pieces for your child to assemble in preparation for 'battle'. Each character also comes with their own weapons, comprising two regular weapons, including staffs, pickaxes and swords, as well as one 'golden weapon' - as the name suggests, these are golden in colour and represent great power, and include the Scythe of Quakes, the Nunchucks of Lightning, the Shurikens of Ice and the Sword of Fire!

The minifigures also each come with an individual coloured 'spinner', a round LEGO base which the Ninjago minifigure stands on top of. These new packs additionally contain a unique 'crown' which can be used to customise the spinner and 'power up' your minifigure. If you're new to Ninjago, these these spinners can be spun like spinning tops towards each other, the aim of the battle being for your character to use their available weapons to topple the opponent's spinner. If a figure falls off their spinner during the battle, the figure still standing wins, and they are able to 'steal' one of the weapons from the loser.

An added dimension to the game is that each character is assigned their own personal strengths and capabilities, which are detailed on an accompanying special character card. Four 'battle' cards are also included, which can be used by players to influence the outcome of the game. These cards can be presented by players at any time during the battle, as long as that player's character has equal or greater power (this can be done by comparing the power bars on both the battle andLEGO Ninjago character cards). The battle cards contain a range of forfeits to give players some sort of advantage, for example, the opponent must stand their character on one leg until a spin is won, or they must spin with their eyes closed etc.

In our opinion, this is a fun interactive tabletop game, with a great new set of Spinjitzu Spinners to not only complement your child's existing Ninjago collection, but also continue the exciting story of the Ninja's quest to defeat their evil enemies!

Note also that three new LEGO Ninjago booster packs are available to complement this latest collection, consisting of a minifigure and a weapon - these figures include Kendo Cole, Lloyd Garmadon and Jay ZX. No spinner is included however the minifigures are compatible with the 2012 spinners. These booster packs are not sold blind, i.e. your child will be able to see which character they are buying, which is great if they are keen to collect them all without having to buy lots.

BAD POINTS: There are several Ninjago Spinners in the series, which might become fairly expensive if your child is keen to collect them all!

PRICE: £7.49 per spinner; £12.99 Starter Set; £3.99 booster pack
