PRODUCT: LEGO Ninjago Spinjitzu Spinners 2011 (www.ninjago.lego.com)Lego Ninjago Spinners

DESCRIPTION: A series of 6 battle spinners from the LEGO Ninjago range, for hosting tournaments between the Ninjago Ninja Warriors and the evil Spinjitzu Skeleton Masters. A single set includes 1 x minifigure, 1 x spinner, 3 x weapons, 1 x character card, 4 x battle cards and LEGO bricks. Each minifigure is approximately 5cm tall. Suitable for children aged 6 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: There can't be many children who don't like LEGO, although this one is probably more oriented towards boys.

These are certainly no ordinary LEGO minifigures...they come from a fantasy universe of LEGO Ninjago, where conflict is rife between two equally powerful sides, the noble Ninjago ninja warriors and their arch enemy, the evil Spinjitzu skeletons.

This Ninjago Spinners range consists of a series of characters split into 'goodies' (such as Kai, Cole and Zane) and 'baddies' (such as Krazi, Bonezai and Lego Ninjago SpinnersChopov), each with great attention to detail, and each with their own personal 'spinner'. These spinners are round LEGO bases that the Ninjago minifigures stand on top of. They can be spun like spinning tops towards each other, the idea being that your child can engage with their friends in 'Spinjitzu' tabletop tournaments where good battle against evil!

The minifigures come in several pieces which need to be assembled prior to battle (although this is part of the fun!). Each character comes with their own three weapons, including staffs, pickaxes, swords and even bones! The aim of the battle is to topple the opponent's spinner. If a figure falls off their spinner during the battle, the figure still standing wins, and they are able to 'steal' one of theLego Ninjago Spinners weapons from the loser.

An added dimension to the game, however, is that each character is assigned their own personal strengths and capabilities, which are detailed on an accompanying special character card. Four 'battle' cards are also included, which can be used by players to influence the outcome of the game. These cards can be presented by players at any time during the battle, as long as that player's character has equal or greater power (this can be done by comparing the power bars on both the battle and character cards). The battle cards contain a range of forfeits to give players some sort of advantage, Lego Ninjago Spinnersfor example, the opponent must stand their character on one leg until a spin is won, or they must spin with their eyes closed etc.

In our opinion, this is an exciting, innovative, and wonderfully interactive range of LEGO toys that boys will go mad for in their quest to battle against their friends and spin their way to victory.

BAD POINTS: There are several Ninjago Spinners in the series, which might become fairly expensive if your child is keen to collect them all!

PRICE: £7.49 per spinner
