PRODUCT: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean The Mill (www.lego.com)Lego Pirates of the Caribbean The_Mill

DESCRIPTION: A 365-piece LEGO construction set from the Pirates of the Caribbean range. Includes buildable (detachable) mill wheel and tower with moving bell rope, palm tree leaves, Dead Mans Chest, seaweed, keys, fish, snake, weapons, translucent elements, accessories, 4 x minifigure characters, sticker sheet and instructions. Comes with a free poster. Dimensions of mill are approx. 10" (25cm) tall and 8" (20cm) wide. Suitable for children aged 7 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: The Mill is one in a series of construction kits from the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean range, and will most definitely appeal to any fans (particularly boys) of the popular films on which it it is based.

In this particular adventure, Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner and Admiral Norrington are duelling it out for the key to the Dead Man's Chest when the mill wheel suddenly shakes loose with them inside, sending the sword fight spiralling out of control! They must stay on their feet and seize the key before Pirate Hadras scuttles back to the Flying Dutchman with the prize!

Captain Jack SparrowThe set will certainly not disappoint, and the finished construction is not a bad representation of the movie scene. The kit contains a generous number of good quality construction parts, pieces and accessories that are packaged in four numbered bags. These bags relate to the accompanying instructions which provide step-by-step and easy-to-follow diagrams on assembling the model. The first three bags contain pieces to build the minifigures and the mill, while the fourth bag contains pieces to construct the spinning wheel.

The mill and wheel are great fun to build, and the set contains loads of wonderful accessories such as a fish in a barrel, bucket, bottle of rum, seaweed, palm tree leaves and sticker detailing for the window arches. The mill tower also contains a bell with rope, which can be attached to the minifigures so that when the bell is lowered, the figures are pulled up! The wheel can be rotated round in its resting position on the mill, and by pushing a lever on the back, it can be launched off and sent spinning...with the minifigures attached! The design of the wheel is such that figures can be positioned on either the inside or the outside of the wheel.

Once again, LEGO have done a brilliant job with the minifigures included here, with wonderfully accurate and detailed costumes and hair pieces that ressemble the film characters well! Three of the four figures also have double sided faces showing alternative expressions. In addition, there are holster pieces which allow the characters to sheath their swords. Other great little accessories include the Dead Mans Chest complete with heart inside, red snake, compass, pistol, and of course the key! The kit even comes with a free double-sided LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean poster, which contains a special code that your child can use to unlock special video game features.

This is, in our opinion, a great set from the LEGO range, and will be a huge hit among any young Pirates of the Caribbean fans. The set offers lots of building fun and playability, and there are plenty of accessories to keep your child fully engrossed in many a pirate adventure!

BAD POINTS: The set is quite expensive, but does include lots of pieces. When the mill wheel is launched, any minifigures attached to the outside fall off! As with any such type of product, there are many tiny parts which are prone to being lost over time.
