PRODUCT: LEGO Technic Heavy Lift Helicopter (www.technic.lego.com)Lego Technic Heavy Lift Helicopter

DESCRIPTION: A construction kit from the LEGO Technic range, with two buildable model options in one set: Heavy Lift Helicopter and Tandem Rotor Helicopter. Features include contra rotating rotors, opening loading ramp and cargo bay doors, working winch, movable elevator and rudders, multidimensional nose wheel and buildable cargo accessory! Contain 1043 pieces, plus instructions. Heavy Lift Helicopter measures over 8” (22cm) high, 23” (60cm) long and 20” (53cm) wide. Tandem Rotor Helicopter measures over 7” (19cm) high, 31” (80cm) long and 19” (49cm) wide. Requires 6 x AA batteries (not included). Suitable for children aged 10 years and upwards.

GOOD POINTS: LEGO fans who like more of a challenge will really enjoy the LEGO Technic range and particularly the 2-in-1 Heavy Lift Helicopter. Aimed at older children, the kit combines LEGO Technic with motors to offer a far more complex and technical build...with enhanced playability.

The set consists of a huge number of durable plastic LEGO Technic pieces and small parts which are mainly orange, white and grey in colour to fit the colour scheme of the Heavy Lift Service theme! The accompanying instructions have detailed easy-to-follow diagrams that your child can use to construct one of two decent sized models - either a Heavy Lift Helicopter (similar to a Seaking) or a Tandem Rotor Helicopter (similar to a Chinnock).

Lego Technic Tandem Rotor HelicopterThe attention to detail is just brilliant, with authentic designs and striking colour scheme. For both models, the motors are put to good use for rotating the rotors, as well as loading ramps and winches that actually work (dependant on the model being built). There are plenty of other movable parts as well, including elevators and tail rudders, as well as sliding cargo doors.

Through building this construction set, children can get a great insight into engineering principles and the use of motors in moving vehicles (e.g. cogs and gears). The overall size of the models (which are impressively big) also make the interactive parts easy to 'play' with and investigate once built.

As with all LEGO ranges, this set will definitely not disappoint - its superb design with fun interactive features and two-build option will challenge the construction skills of any LEGO head!

BAD POINTS: Expensive, but does include two models in one set. As is the case with any such product, the large number of tiny parts are prone to being lost over time.
