PRODUCT: Spin Master Bakugan 'Reptak' Baku Sky Raider (www.spinmastertoys.co.uk)Reptak Bakugan Sky Raider

DESCRIPTION: One of the characters in a trading card game based on the third Japanese anime series Bakugan Gundalian Invaders. The set includes 1 x jumping 'Reptak' Baku Sky Raider with BakuSnap add-ons, 2 x Ability Cards and 1 x Metal Gate Mard. Reptak can be combined with 'Fusion Dragonoid' Baku Sky Raider to create 'Aeroblitz'. Suitable for children aged 5 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS: Fast becoming the hottest topic of conversation among school children everywhere (particularly boys), Bakugan is a hugely popular strategic trading card game based on the original Japanese anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers (and its subsequent series).

The game is sold by way of collectible Bakugan packs, containing metal cards and magnetic spring-loaded miniature figures which fold up into compact spherical balls and represent the various Bakugan characters (and there are loads of them!). There are six 'attributes' of Bakugan which are representative of their elements (Pyrus, Aquos, Haos, Darkus, Ventus, and Subterra). These attributes give the Bakugan their individual powers and abilities, and each attribute has its own associated colour and attribute symbol.

The metal Gate Card forms the playing surface for the game and is simply a card containing a magnetic plate which activates the Bakugan to 'explode' or rather pop open into their warrior stance when rolled onto it. These Gate Cards are what the Bakugan 'battle' for, and are colour coded (gold, silver or copper) with varying G-Power boosts (G-Power being the basic measure of a Bakugan's power level) as well as special abilities. The main objective of the standard two-player game is to capture three of the opponent's Gate Cards. A 'battle' is one Bakugan against another, and happens whenever Bakugan from two different players end up on the same Gate card. The Bakugan's G-Power, Ability Cards (colour coded instructional cards which can effect/change gameplay) and Gate Card are summed to determine which is the battle's winner. The player who wins the battle wins the Gate Card!

The Baku Sky Raiders are the newest 'special treatment' Bakugan figures (special colours or attacks which can qualify for certain Gate or Ability cards) that actually jump upon opening. Reptak is just one of a number of these Sky Raiders but is only one of two such figures which comes with some neat little BakuSnap add-on pieces which attach onto it to enhance battle. In addition, Reptak can be fused with another of the Baku Sky Raiders, Fusion Dragonoid, to create an amazing Pyrus Bakugan called Aeroblitz.

These are, in our opinion, a fantastic little range of Bakugan warriors with some unique abilities and powers to bring to battle that any like-minded Bakugan battlers will be desperate to get their hands on!

BAD POINTS: A standard game requires each player to have a minimum of three Bakugan, although your child will naturally want to add to the collection anyway, which over time could make this quite an expensive game.

PRICE: Approx. £6.99 each
