PRODUCT: Fisher-Price Peek-a-Blocks Press & Go TrainPeek-A-Blocks Press & Go Train (www.fisher-price.com)

DESCRIPTION: A two-part plastic train with smokestack which activates movement, lights, and music. Five Circus-themed Peek-a-Blocks are included, which can be positioned on various parts of the train and are bobbed and spun around when the smokestack is pressed. Requires three AA batteries. Suitable for 6 months upwards.

GOOD POINTS: This toy is really colourful and has a variety of fun functions once the train is moving. It offers great visual stimulation and encourages baby’s crawling. The special blocks which come with it all have different characters inside which have their own activity, e.g. clown, monkey, lion etc., and all five can be fitted interchangeably onto the train at one time.

The front drivers section holds one block which it bobs up and down, and its connecting carriage has a special rotating function which spins the contents of the block around and sets off the special activity. The third section is a detachable carriage which holds two further blocks which it moves up and down in a see-saw motion. This carriage also has a drop-down seat for the remaining block.

While the music is playing small red LED lights flash on and off – placing a block on the spinning section sets the music and lights off but the train will stay stationary. The train moves well on all types of flooring and carpet, and also has a volume control and on/off switch! There are also many other Peek-a-Blocks to collect which can be used with this, and other Fisher-Price toys.

BAD POINTS: The paint may come off the wheels after a time which makes the toy look very worn. The train is supposed to be suitable for 6 month olds, although this may be a little young as it does not respond well to being pushed along and pulled back once it has been activated, and may not work properly as a result. The rising drivers carriage section of the toy is not very reliable and easily sticks, which causes a loud clicking sound. This clicking noise also occurs as soon as the train drives into any barriers. Only blocks with the special discs on the bottom can be used with the rotating function.

PRICE: Normal retail price is £19.99 for train and 5 Peek-a-Blocks.
