PRODUCT: Early Learning Centre Ollie the Octopus (www.elc.co.uk)Early Learning Centre Ollie the Octopus

DESCRIPTION: A multicoloured patterned octopus with activity legs that squeak, rattle, and crinkle, and a pull-down musical cord. Suitable from birth upwards.

GOOD POINTS: This is a lovely toy for a young baby as the colours are bright and there is a lot to explore. The octopus has a green smiley head with a crinkly yellow hat, and its eight legs have different patterns, textures, and noises. Some rattle, some squeak, and some crinkle.

The toy is a good size, especially once baby starts to practisetheir motor skills, and the legs make it easy to grab and hold. There is also a fish on a pull-and-release cord, hidden under the legs, which plays a calming tune.

The octopus can be spread out to lie flat, or can stand on its legs. It also has a tie handle on its head which allows it to be fastened to carrier handles, prams, pushchairs, gyms, bouncers, and cots. It can be used either for soothing baby to sleep, or for quiet play when they wake. It washes well.

BAD POINTS: The fabric covering the pull-cord is not very durable and slacks away from the base very quickly. In addition, for the number of legs that there are, there are perhaps not enough different textures and noises.

PRICE: £10
